Trustee News The improvements to the Maxville Community Center are complete. The air conditioning is up and running. Keep the building in mind for your next function. The building can be rented by calling Dodie Carpenter at 385-8124. The cost to rent the building is $50. The township has purchased 2.375 acres from Roger Carpenter. The trustees are working on estimates and financing for the construction of a building which will be used to house the road equipment and gravel. The Perry County Engineer’s office is working on the state approved specifications for the proposed building a 50’ x 64’ building with three doors. Due to the cost of the building it will be put up for bid. The goal is to have the building completed before winter. The chip and seal is complete. The cost of the tar increased this year from $.79 to $1.20 per gallon. The gravel cost was $9,557.47 and the tar bill was $19,800.00 for a total of $29,356.47. The trustees are looking for a part- time janitor for the Maxville Community Center. If anyone has an interest, you may contact one of the trustees or fiscal officer. All road repairs made possible by the FEMA grants are now complete. The township owes a big "Thank You" to David Nelson for all the time and effort he put in to make these grants possible. The trustees would like to thank all the volunteers that helped on Clean Up Day and to all those who have volunteered to participate in the “Adopt a Highway” program. Good Ole Days Do you remember when a very patient Mr. Detwiller was at school laying up a cement block pantry in the kitchen and every kid in the school bugged him at lunch time and recess?

Monday Creek Fire Department News During the period from mid-May to Mid-August, the Fire Department responded to five fire calls. During this same period, our First Responder Team made three runs. Firefighters and first responders have been recertified in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) training. They also completed training in Meth Labs (recognizing clandestine methamphetamine labs). They are in the process of being certified in Incident Command System training to meet national standards as established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. First responders have sent in their paperwork and have been recertified for the next three years from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, EMS Division. The Ice Cream Social held July 29th was a great success. Thank you for joining us for the delicious homemade ice cream. Join us at the New Lexington Pizza Hut on Tuesday evening, September 26th (4-8 p.m.) for our Christmas party fundraiser. Pizza Hut will donate 20% of your total purchase to the Fire Department. Also, all tips will be given to the Fire Department. Mark your calendars for our fish fry on October 7th from 4 through 7 p.m. Come and enjoy all you can eat fish with french fries, cole slaw and baked beans! Also, don't forget to buy raffle tickets ($500 cash for first prize) for the drawing that evening. See any of our firefighters or first responders for tickets. In The News Maxville Historical Society – We hope that you have had an opportunity to stop at the community building to visit the room depicting the history of Maxville and Monday Creek Township. The new Amish made furniture is in place which was purchased with grant money from the State of Ohio. It really looks great! You are welcome to come and browse any time the building is open. Ramona Hicks would like to sincerely thank those “History Boosters” who have generously sent their membership dues for 2007. It is much appreciated! Also an anonymous person (through Dodie Carpenter) gave us a used copier for our work. A hearty thanks to them! If you have any items of interest that you would like to be added to the “History Room” or have anything about days gone by, please write it up and give it to Ramona Hicks as she is updating the “History Book.” Be sure to put Saturday, October 28 on your calendar as a reminder to come join the fun of the Sixth Annual Fall Festival. One of those “wild” auctions is certain to be on the agenda. The food and fun menus will be varied.
Please check the sign in front of the community building for times. The money earned will be used fro miscellaneous expenses and items for the entire building. Creek Valley Quilters – is still meeting twice each month (2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 10 a.m.), but summer has been rather slow. Plans to step up the pace are being discussed. If you are interested and would like to learn more call Paula Owings at 385-2361.
We have a new business in the township called J.A.D.E. Per their sign posted on Township Road 241 they construct pole buildings, do electrical work and more general construction.
