Dial 911 (Nine-One-One) Please note that 911 is now available in our area. If you have any emergency of any kind, dial 911. Know Your Trustees Richard Fisher (Chairman) – 385-5122 Dodie Carpenter (Clerk) – 385-8124 Jerry Brown – 385-0177 John Brown – 385-7908 These are the individuals who administer the business of Monday Creek Township. Our roads are their business as is the upkeep of the community building. Going to have a reunion or party? You might like to have it in the Maxville Community Center. For information and reservations contact Dodie Carpenter at 385-8124. Trustee News The trustees have been busy replacing and installing new culverts. The following township roads have new culverts: 430E, 430W, 228, 190, 248, 386, and 250, two culverts on 131 and three culverts on 245. The township is waiting on the County to chip and seal. A crimson maple tree has been planted in the front yard of the Maxville Community Building. This was purchased with funds earned by events held at the building by Ramona Hicks. The improvements on the first grade room are near completion. For safety reasons, the room has been locked during renovations. Most of the work has been completed by members of the fire department. Some of the quilting ladies helped with painting the trim. The trustees would like to thank everyone who has helped on this project. At this time, the trustees are working on the purchase of land for the construction of a township building. The trustees and clerk wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer!
In The News Thanks goes to everyone who attended the “Sing” in the community building held by Ramona Hicks on Sunday, July 17. It was a nice pleasurable evening. Watch the sign in front of the community building for the next “Sing” date and time coming in October. The Creek Valley Quilters have a number of items displayed at the Logan Art Gallery until August 8. The group is preparing three quilts to give to any who may fall victim of fire or other disaster. They would like it to be known that they would welcome any who are interested in the art of quilting. It makes no difference whether you are wanting to learn or are already into to it. In The News continued The Mission Group of the Ebenezer Baptist church has just returned from a two-week trip to Venezuela. Their mission, while there, was to work on a building project. Their experiences should be quite interesting. Our thanks goes out to the Old Straitsville Water Association (OSWA) for sending a repair crew quickly when a water line was found broken.

Ice Cream Social July 30 The fire department is having their annual ice cream social fundraiser from 4 – 7 p.m. Everyone is invited and welcome. Monday Creek Fire Department News Members of the fire department are currently taking an internet based training class entitled, “National Incident Manage System (NIMS).” This class is a requirement of the federal government and the Department of Home Land Security. Fire departments must be “NIMS” compliant to be eligible for assistance to firefighter grants. Department member Josh Danison is currently taking the required state firefighter training class with members of the Logan City Fire Department. Fire department members have also been busy working on remodeling the first grade room in the community building.
The fire department had four runs the first half of June. Three runs were first Responder runs that were medical emergencies assisting Hocking County EMS. One run was to the area of State Route 312 and Griggs Road where a strong storm blew down trees and power lines.

Good Ole Days Do you remember or have you heard about the covered bridge that spanned Monday Creek long ago, just as you entered Maxville? Do you suppose it was considered the “parking spot?”
