Due to increasing utility costs a minimum fee of $50 has been set per day. Worldwide on the Web Visit Monday Creek Township’s website at: www.mondaycreektownship.org. Read past newsletters, view the local forecast, and click on the links to the local government sites. Trustee News The community building has a new look! The interior has been painted, new curtains are up and the main room has a new floor. The floor was made possible with help from the Historical Society. They paid $1,500 and the township paid the additional $1,000. The Historical Society also purchased new tables and contributed to the cost of the painting. We now have a water fountain installed and the first grade room renovations are completed. Thanks to all you helped! The Fire Department and the Quilting Club are meeting in this room. The Historical Society is expanding into the second grade room. Due to the numerous improvements to the community building, it was decided that a set minimum fee for the use of the building would be $50 per day. The cost to heat the building has increased greatly and soon we will have air conditioning which will also increase the cost of utilities. Anyone wishing to use the building should call Dodie Carpenter at 385-8124. It is with regret that the trustees have accepted the resignation of Mr. David Nelson as FEMA agent for the township. The township owes Mr. Nelson a big “thank you” for all the time and effort he has spent working with FEMA for road improvements within the township. Without his assistance the money would have not been available to do the necessary road repairs. If anyone would like to represent the township as the FEMA agent, please contact one of the trustees. Thanks again Dave! The annual financial report for 2005 has been completed and filed with the auditor of state. The budget for 2006 is completed and anyone wishing to view either report may do so by contacting Dodie Carpenter, Fiscal Officer for Monday Creek Township at 385-8124. Good News We would like to welcome Todd and Alasyn Smith to our community. They purchased the Elmer “Tuggle” Howdyshell farm. In January, they became the proud parents of baby girl they named “Abigail.” Congratulations!

If you are interested in joining the Creek Valley Quilters group, now would be a good time to come get acquainted. We are meeting in a newly refurbished room, which is enjoyable to work in thanks to the guys of the fire department who share the meeting room and who did the carpentry work. At present time we are finishing up individual projects with no special work with exception of a wedding ring quilt in frames for hand quilting. For more information contact Brandi Stamper at 380-1558 or Paula Owings at 385-2361.

Monday Creek Fire Department News Fire Department personnel participated in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) training in mid-February. All members were trained in life support measures for adults, children and babies. The training was provided through the Hocking Valley Community Hospital. Four members of the department, including our newest member, Russell Brown, attended a controlled-burn house fire sponsored by the Junction City Volunteer Fire Department. A total of 43 firefighters from throughout Perry County attended the training. Overall, the department has had only a few calls in January, February and March. The department responded to one grass fire and three First Responder medical runs. The department will hold a spaghetti supper on Saturday, April 29 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Maxville Community Center. Dinner costs $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12. A 50/50 drawing will be held during the dinner. Mark your calendar for our ice cream social on July 29 and our fish fry on October 7. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Annual Roadside Clean-Up Tired of looking at litter on the township roads? Want to make a difference? Then mark your calendars for the annual roadside clean-up on Saturday, 4/22 from 9 am – noon (meet at the Maxville Community Center). All individuals and groups welcomed. Please dress in comfortable clothing appropriate for the clean-up (jeans, shoes/boots). Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Refreshments will be served at noon. Also If you wish to “adopt a highway/road,” contact Erwin Wolfe at 385-5321 for more details. Good Ole Days Do you remember when in the mid fifties the Hula Hoop was the toy of choice for most children? We had a teacher, Mr. Allen, in Maxville, who forbid the kids to bring and play with those hoops. Does anyone remember what his reason was? In The News Maxville Historical Society will sponsor a “House Cleaning” yard sale on Saturday, May 6. Tables are available at a cost of $10 each. If you would like to donate any items, they would be quite welcome. The proceeds will be used to aid with the community building upkeep. For more information call 385-6100. We have had a very promising year at our community center location. Many improvements and changes have been possible because of the cooperation of our trustees, fire department, advisory committee, county commissioners and many former residents. We also appreciate our neighbors and friends for their continuing support. We have purchased 14 banquet tables, clocks and many small items and helped on the expenses of painting inside the building and new flooring in the assembly room. We are very appreciative of our local organization and the continuing support of concerned friends of the Maxville Community Center located on St. Rt. 668. For more information please contact Ramona Hicks at 385-6100. We want to let you know about a voluntary membership helping us which we call our “Booster Club.” For $5 you can receive a “Booster Card” membership that runs from 10/05 – 10/06. We need addresses of anyone who is currently helping or if anyone is interested and would like to be advised of the progress and meetings. For more information please contact Ramona Hicks, 7719 St. Rt. 668, Logan, OH 43138, (740) 385-6100. Sympathy We would like to extend our sincere sympathy for the loss of our friends and neighbors: Janette Nelson whose lovely smile was memorable; Leota Wesselhoft who had a soft pleasant demeanor that was comforting and Raymond Holer who displayed his friendship in such an easy going manner. If you have notices that you would like printed in the newsletter contact 385-4454.
