Monday Creek Fire Department News The department responded to six fire runs (including traffic accidents) and five First Responder medical runs in January, February and March. The department received a grant to outfit the Polaris all-terrain vehicle (ATV) with a firefighting pump, tank and hose. This will allow firefighters to reach backcountry locations for grass and brush fires. As a fundraiser, the department is putting together a cookbook with mouth-watering recipes from our friends and neighbors. We're sure your going to want one for your home and others to give as gifts. Our firefighters will be selling the cookbooks in the next few months. The firefighters will have new, up-to-date turnout gear thanks to a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grant. The new gear should be here in a couple months. The department will hold a Spaghetti Supper on Saturday, May 5, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Maxville Community Center; this was changed from the previous listed date. Mark your calendar to remind you to come over for dinner and support our fire department. Monday Creek Township Survey Your opinions matter! In The News - continued Hunting in Perry County This time of year two types of enthusiast hit the woods in Monday Creek Township. Both are hunting elusive prey. Of course I am referring to turkey and mushroom (morel) hunters. Both seasons come in at about the same time but participants usually do not interfere with each other. Good luck to both types of hunters and if someone finds more mushrooms than they need, feel free to give them to me. Moonshine Festival May 24 28, New Straitsville.
