Trustee News

The 2004 Annual Financial Report has been completed and filed with the Auditor of State.  This can be reviewed by contacting Dodie Carpenter, clerk.

The new culvert has been installed on Twp. Rd. 430.  This was paid for with funds from our first FEMA Disaster Grant. The cost to replace just this culvert was approximately $5,700.00.

The Trustees are aware of the poor condition of the roads. The continual rain is slowing road work. The trustees ask for your patience and want to assure you that they are working to improve the road conditions.

The ceiling tile in the quilting room and the auditorium has been repaired. A new ceiling has been installed in the hallway. Mr. John Bailey of Bailey's Painting was contracted to do the repairs. Work continues in the first grade room.

Congratulations to the Fire Dept.! Through the department’s hard work they were able to obtain grant money to purchase a new tanker truck. The old tanker was sold to Starr Twp. Volunteer Fire Dept. The Fire Dept. is a major asset to the township and we should all be proud of the work they do. Keep up the Good Work!

In The News

Ramona Hicks recently held another well attended “Sing” in the community building. It was an enjoyable evening of signing, eating, and an auction. One plate of fudge went the way of the kite! Believe me; he intended to get that fudge. Watch the sign in front of the community building for the next “Sing” date and time. If you have any ideas for a neighborly get together just give us a ring at 385-4454.

Monday Creek               Fire Department News

The Fire Department has received and put into service its new tanker truck. Several members of the department traveled to Fouts Brothers Fire Equipment in Georgia the first week of March to bring the truck home. The department wants to give special thanks to Brad Danison for overseeing the purchase of the truck and for working to get the truck in service. The new truck is a 1999 Freightliner and was built from the chassis up. The truck is equipped with a 2000 gallon poly tank and various other firefighting equipment. The Department welcomes Damien Baughman as a new member. Damien recently took his fire training and passed his state test. The fire department’s “Spaghetti Supper” is planned for Saturday April 23 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the community building.

Land Use                          The land use planning committee is simply a group of folks concerned about the future look of Monday Creek Township. They have come together to draw up a statement about what the folks consider an ideal place to live with regard to commercial enterprises, recreational startups, new dwellings, and sanitary disposal which may find a location very near to our property.

They have gathered information about the history of the township, the present road mileage and condition, the availability of water supply, electric services and underground makeup. They will present this to the trustees to keep them informed as to what the majority of residents would like to see done.

If you are interested and wish to participate, the committee meets the 2nd Monday of each month from 7 - 9 p.m.

Thanks goes all out to the individuals who came to the land use meeting in February, however small we do appreciate your comments.

Good Ole Days

Did you know that in the early 1900’s Maxville had a busy barber by the name of Howard Stephenson an easy going, well liked gentleman by all? His wife referred to as “Aunt Tient,” was one strict lady who had no patience with children who were not ideal. The barbershop flourished well into the 1930’s.
